Aim & Scope
Nurses are present at almost every moment when patient care can go right or wrong. The Journal of Nursing and Patient Safety (JNPS) publishes research on nursing practice and on the systems that keep patients safe.
We welcome work from wards, clinics, communities and classrooms, and we value studies that other nurses and safety teams could put into practice.
Scope
JNPS publishes original research articles, review articles, case reports and short communications in areas including, but not limited to:
- Clinical nursing practice across all specialties
- Patient safety, adverse events and error prevention
- Infection prevention and control
- Medication safety
- Nursing workforce, staffing and wellbeing
- Nursing education and simulation
- Quality improvement and implementation science
- Patient experience and person-centred care
- Community, primary care and public health nursing
- Nursing leadership, policy and ethics
Peer Review
Every submission goes through double-blind peer review by at least two independent reviewers with expertise in the subject. The usual time from submission to first editorial decision is 12–14 weeks. See the Peer Review Policy for details.
Originality
All manuscripts are screened for similarity with iThenticate before they go to reviewers, as set out in the Plagiarism Policy.
